Using a Web Design Process that is practical and relevant

Back in January I started to deliver a module on Web Design for first year computing students in IT Sligo. The B.Sc in Computing has streams for Software Development, Systems, Web Development and Gaming.

WordPress as Web application Development Framework

A few trends that I have noticed recently with regard to WordPress development.

  • WordPress hosting providers offering services to niches – the latest one released is CampusPress for the hosting of Education based sites. While there are many offerings for high trafficked  WordPress sites – the trend is now to specific verticals.
  • Lots of blog posts on the postitives of using WordPress as a Web application framework – some of the functionality that quickly springs to mind are things like user and media management.
